What your character might know about Logan Echolls, without even speaking to him:
A brief overview of Logan in Veronica Mars canon.

Logan Echolls is the son of Aaron Echolls, A-list movie star. Think Harrison Ford, Bruce Willis or even Tom Cruise. His mother, Lynn Echolls, was a famous actress in her own right, though she's not as popular as she used to be. (Think Demi Moore, pre-comeback) If you're from this dimension (or a similar one), you've probably heard of them.

You've probably also heard the rest of the story - Aaron's philandering, Lynn's suicide, Aaron's arrest for the murder of Lilly Kane - Logan's girlfriend, with whom Aaron was having an affair until she discovered the sex tapes he'd made of her and threatened to make them public.

Logan himself has been in the news a few times. Last year, the Bumfights he organized made the Smoking Gun website, but he and Aaron made an appearance at a local soup kitchen to apologize, and Aaron even donated half a million dollars to the Neptune Food Bank.

This spring he was found on the Coronado Bridge with a bloody knife in his hand and the dead body of Felix, a local biker, laying nearby. He was arrested for murder, but the case was dismissed, in part because Felix and five other bikers had jumped him on the bridge and beat the crap out of him, so even if he had killed Felix, it was in self-defense. Having high-priced lawyers arguing your case doesn't hurt.

Where Official Canon and Logan Part Ways

This Logan left Neptune after Veronica dumped him this summer. He decided to make a fresh start in Fandom.

Logan hasn't been back to Neptune since. He's emailed with Dick Casablancas a couple of times and he met up with Trina and their family lawyers in L.A. in November.

I'm pretty sure that Logan didn't kill Felix, but I'm keeping things vague since I don't know what kind of curveballs Rob Thomas is going to throw at us. IC, Logan wasn't happy in Neptune and isn't likely to talk about things that happened there. He's moving forward, not looking back.

Fandom High Canon: How I Nearly Didn't Survive Fall Semester

September

The school year started out well. Logan took up residence in a large house near the beach that his family owned. He advertised for roommates, two of which are still around, Jake Gavin and Barbossa.

He immediately threw a huge party, which is where he hooked up with Rory Gilmore.

Parts of his past had followed him to Fandom, though. Veronica Mars was here, and she told him that Lilly Kane was also in town. Logan ran into Lilly early in the year and has mostly avoided her since then.

Despite a rocky start, Logan and Rory hit it off and started dating. (This was also the start of an adversarial sometimes-friendship between Logan and Parker.) She even tried to introduce him to her parents, which was, regretfully, interrupted by a zombie attack. This lead to the destruction of the diner and the beginnings of a friendship between Angelus and Logan.

Things got rocky when Logan found out that Rory kissed another guy, which lead to their first fight and their first making up.

October

Angelus started taking a personal interest in Logan.

Rory and Logan had another fight after a drunken dare from Lilly lead to Rory kissing Jake. Jake and Logan ended up in the Great Post-it War of 2005, and Jake eventually made his apology in song.

Angelus and Logan bonded on a boy's night out and at the Halloween party, where Logan got a taste of what it was like to be a vampire. Angelus even introduced Logan to his mother.

Logan also spent a weekend as a bunny.

November

Logan's friendship with Angelus went rapidly downhill once Logan learned Angelus killed Kitty - and got worse when Angelus attacked Rory and Logan. [For everything that happened that night, check out Barbossa's fantastic summary.] Logan spent several days in the clinic recovering and his arm was in a cast up until the day he left for Christmas vacation.

Logan heard that Angel/us had gotten a soul, but he still went after Angel/us as soon as he was out of the clinic. He started to realize that Angel was a different person, though, and even saved his life when they were trapped in Locker 327 together.

December

Things got slightly better in December. Logan and friends decorated the house and revoked the vampire invitations at the same time.

Logan got into a drinking game with Callisto and Anakin.

He and Veronica clashed over Logan's ~~death wish~~ protectiveness. But the lapdance she gave him was the result of a gremlin bite. It still lead to a fight between Logan and Rory and later, a fight between Anakin and Logan, which Anakin ended by using the Force to make Logan believe nothing had happened with Anakin and Rory. But Logan and Rory still broke up.

Angel and Logan moved slowly towards friendship. Angel hitting on Logan under the love spell didn't help, but Angel's puppy Sean provided a chance for the boys to talk a little.

Logan and Xander explored Special Collections in search of the library's ~~porn~~ erotica collection.

Logan spent the final days of 2005 in Hawaii.
