fh_jackass: Logan Echolls (Default)
It took Logan a good half-hour to lay out all the spell components. The book had a detailed diagram of how each stick, herb and candle should be laid out.

It was more complicated than a few other variations he'd found, but it had the distinct advantage of not requiring any fancy ingredients; just stuff he'd picked up out of the kitchen or around the school. He supposed he could have begged or bribed Lockheed for dragon's blood, but where could he get a mermaid's scale or a strand from a unicorn's mane?

Once the circle was laid out, he stripped off his shirt and drew the necessary symbols on his chest with a Sharpie. Next he pulled off his shoes and socks and sprinkled his feet with lemon juice and thyme. Finally he picked up the book and stepped into the center of the circle.

The incantation itself was in Latin. Logan read it straight from the book, speaking slowly and steadily so he wouldn't stumble over any of the words. When he finished the last word of the spell, a tingling sensation swept over his body, starting with his toes and traveling up to his head, then was gone.

Logan stood there for a moment in the aftermath of the spell. He didn't feel different. He blinked, and looked around. No X-Ray vision or other supersenses yet. He stepped out of the circle, put the book down and tried lifting the desk. Nope, no superstrength.

He looked at the palm of his hand and tried to will a fireball into existance. For a moment he thought his hand was getting warmer, but several more minutes of concentration didn't produce even a spark. He sighed. Well, maybe it took some time for the spell to kick in.

He cleaned up the spell components and crawled into bed. Tomorrow he'd have superpowers like practically every other person at this school.
