Room 228, Friday, Late afternoon.

After getting a voicemail from Veronica, Logan called her back and asked her to come down so they could talk. He flopped down on the bed and stared up at the ceiling, waiting for her to arrive.

Veronica knocked.

"Come in!" Logan called out.

Veronica walked in, closed the door and locked it to prevent angry mobs interrupting and sat down in Logan's desk chair.

She crossed her arms over her chest. "Well?"

Logan sat up and looked at her. "I'm sorry," he said. "Are you all fixed up now? No more Nyquil?"

"I'm fine," she said. "Why?"

Logan shrugged. "Wondered if it would work. I didn't know it was going to go nuts like that," he said, looking at her. "I thought it'd either work or not work."

She sighed. "What exactly were you trying to accomplish?"

He gave her a look. "What do you think?"

"I don't know, Logan. That's why I'm asking you. All I know is I got an email from Parker telling me that you cast some sort of spell and it backfired and somehow gave half the people in Fandom wacky abilities."

She sighed again. "And apparently you knew last night you caused it and didn't tell me, which meant I had to find out from Parker, instead of finding out from you."

Logan sighed. "I cast a spell to give myself superpowers, okay? Stupid, I know. I got read the riot act by Parker last night. And then I came back here and you were..." he sighed. "I didn't want to ruin last night."

"Why would you want superpowers?" she asked.

"So I could deal with people like Bel and Anakin myself and not have everyone telling me to stay away from them or let other people deal!" Logan said.

Veronica looked down. "I guess I can sort of understand that," she said quietly.

Logan took her hand in his. "I'm going to protect you from him," he said. "Or anyone who tries to hurt you. Powers or no." He shrugged one shoulder "Would be a little easier with superpowers, that's all." He gave her a small smile.

"You've done a good job of protecting me so far without superpowers," she pointed out, moving from the chair to sit next to him on the bed. "And I'm not planning to do anything that requires your protection any time soon," she added. "Remember that whole agreement we made?"

"I know," Logan said. "It's just that things have a way of happening without us planning on it, and I wanted to be ready."

Veronica sighed. "As much as I understand where you're coming from, you do realize it wasn't a great plan, right? And you won't try it again? Cause I kind of like you in one piece," she added with a small smile. "And, knowing our luck? You would have ended up with detachable limbs like Rory. As it is, I'm afraid half the student body wants to kick your ass."

"Yes." Logan nodded. "In hindsight, I am seeing that it was a very bad plan."

"I think you need to apologize," she informed in. "Even though you didn't do it on purpose, a lot of people had to deal with a lot of weird stuff and apologizing is a good start."

Logan looked into her eyes. "I'm sorry," he said.

She leaned over and kissed him.

"Now you probably only have fifty or sixty people left," she said with a smirk.

She glanced at her watch. "I have to run," she said. "Rory's having a surprise party for Jake tonight and I told her I'd help her set up."

"Oh," Logan said. "There's a party for Jake? I didn't hear about that."

"You didn't? She sent an email," Veronica said innocently. "Well, I got a gift from us. I think she wants people there around nine. Meet me there then?"

"Sure," Logan said, feeling oddly disappointed for some undefinable reason. "Sounds good."

She gave him another quick kiss.

"I'll see you around nine. At that new bar, Quark's. Love you! And remember, apologize to anyone who comes at you with a crazed look in their eyes."

"Love you too," Logan said. "Sounds like good advice."
