Logan lay on his bed in the dark, wide awake. He was fully dressed in dark, non-descript clothing. The gun was tucked into his waistband and a couple of ski masks sat on the desk.

At midnight exactly, there was a knock.

Logan reached over to turn on the desk lamp, then walked quietly over to the door and opened it. He blinked when he saw Angel standing there instead of Bel. "This isn't a good time," he said, and started to close the door.

Angel put a hand out to halt the door's progress. "I'm thinking it is."

Logan glanced past Angel. No one else was in the hallway. "What do you want?" he asked Angel.

"To talk."

"Tomorrow's better for that."

Angel pushed past him to get into the room. He shut the door behind him. "There's no field trip today."

Fuck Bel, Logan thought. To Angel he just said, "That's not your call."

"I'm not going to stand idly by and let you do this to yourself, Logan," Angel said, unmmoved.

"I'm not doing anything to myself," Logan snapped.

"Right, because we all know murder has no consequences for anybody but the victim," Angel said. "Not. Happening."

Logan shrugged. "Not your call," he repeated. "Thanks for stopping by, though." He reached for the doorknob.

Angel didn't budge. "It won't fix anything."

"Yeah, it will!" Logan folded his arms across his chest. "It'll stop him from killing anyone else."

Angel folded his arms. "Is that really why you're doing this?"

Logan gave him a hard look. "He tried to have Veronica killed."

"I know."

"Yeah," Logan said bitterly. "Thanks for the heads-up on that."

"Veronica asked for the chance to tell you first," Angel said. "And killing your dad isn't going to solve any of your problems."

Logan rolled his eyes. "It'll solve the problem of him killing the people I love and that's the only one I'm worried about right now."

"At what price?"

Logan clenched his jaw. "It's worth it."

"The Hell it is," Angel said, looking Logan right in the eye. "Where does it stop, Logan? You wanna kill me next, in case I turn evil again and go after her too? Hell, you've got the stake. Make it happen right now."

"Don't even," Logan said, shaking his head. "That's bullshit. You're not actively trying to kill anyone right now. He is."
