"You have no idea," he said. "You were here, in leather, while I was stuck at this horrible dinner party. But I really don't want to talk about California. Did'ja see my new toy?"
"There are pictures, though you'll have to get them from Angelus," Rory assured him. She leaned a little around him to get a better look at the drive. "It's like a little car!"
"This baby can handle speeds of over 30 miles per hour." He waggles his eyebrows at her. "Wanna take her for a spin? I think we've got a couple minutes before curfew."
"Thirty miles per hour?" Rory asked, her voice breathlessly incredulous. "That's lunacy, Logan! And yes, of course I would love to go for a drive. Can Vladdie come, or shall I leave him here?"
"Fairly uneventful," she replied, shifting Vladdie to her right arm so that he could observe their surroundings as they drove past. "Did the fashion show, went to a party, sang onstage and got my aura read."
"The guy who opened a karaoke bar in town a couple days ago. He's green and his name is Lorne. And...no, not really. He...um...he said I'm going to be betrayed by someone I'm close to," she said, petting the squirming puppy she was cradling.
Rory smiled grudgingly. "Yeah. I normally don't buy into this kind of thing, really. He was just...really convincing. Kind of rattled me. I even had a bad dream, which is really rare."
"No, no," Rory said hastily. "It's not a big deal. Just...an old memory of someone betraying me, except this time it was someone new, doing the same thing, if that makes sense." She was obviously choosing her words carefully.
Logan looked at her thoughtfully, then leaned over and kissed her on the forehead. "It was just a dream," he said. "Probably the fortune teller made you worry and it triggered a dream. Doesn't mean anything."
"Right," Rory replied, smiling. "It was just...weird. Especially since I don't dream very much. Or I don't remember them often, anyway. But I know it didn't mean anything."
She reached over with the hand not holding Vladdie and intertwined her fingers with Logan's. "So...anything exciting that you actually want to talk about happen on your trip?"
