After getting Veronica's message, he called her back and invited her down to his room to talk.

Logan threw up his hands. "Yes!"

"I was handling it!" Veronica insisted. "After everything you've been through because of him, I didn't want to add to it."

Logan slammed a hand against the wall again. "Christ, Veronica, I'm not going to fall apart because you tell me my dad's an evil bastard. I kind of got that message a while ago. I could have helped you handle it."

It was Veronica's turn to laugh. "And how exactly would you have handled it?" she asked. "Called him up and said, 'Gee, Dad, it would be swell if you stopped trying to murder all my girlfriends?'"

Logan's face hardened. "No," he said darkly. "I was thinking of something more permanant."

"Funny, that was pretty much my thinking," she said.

Logan stared at her for a moment. "And how did you plan to..." The color drained from his face as he started putting pieces together. "You talked to Bel," he said flatly. It wasn't a question.

Veronica nodded.

"You couldn't talk to me, but you could talk to Bel?"

"Bel owed me," she said. "And had the means to do it."

Logan's hands clenched into fists, and he stuffed them in his pockets. "I see."

"I realize it wasn't exactly the best way to handle things," Veronica admitted. "But I'm tired of being a victim."

Logan clenched his jaw. "When is Bel going to...?"

"He's not," Veronica said quickly. "I changed my mind."

"Why?" Logan asked. "It's a good idea."

"What?"

That was so not the reaction Veronica was expecting.

She shook her head. "Logan, it's not a good idea. I was reacting emotionally, not thinking rationally. If Bel did that, we'd be stooping to your father's level."

Logan looked at her for a moment, then nodded. "You're right. It's stupid emotional stuff. We should be the bigger people."

Veronica studied Logan's expression. "Logan, I'm serious," she said. "This isn't a game. Do you really think you could live with yourself if you had someone take your father's life?"

"No," Logan said softly. "There are some things best kept in the family."

"Logan," Veronica said with a sigh. "This isn't you. You're not a killer."

"Funny," Logan said with a bitter smile. "I seem to recall a time when you thought otherwise."

"So now we're back to that?" Veronica asked, rolling her eyes. "Why am I not surprised? You love to throw that in my face despite the fact that you were the one that lied to me for months about where you were when Lilly died. Maybe if you would have told me the truth sooner, your father wouldn't have had the chance to try to kill me."

"Maybe," Logan said with tightly controlled fury. "Maybe if someone had taken care of him sooner, you and Lilly would have both been safe."

"Maybe," Veronica agreed. "But that's not you. You are not him."

Logan was quiet for a moment, then finally said, "I think we're done here."
