The full buffet of yesterday is no longer there, but all the Christmas decorations remain up.

A few packages are still under the tree.

Callisto really was getting this skulking in the lobby thing down to a fine art. She grunted something that might be a greeting (but was just as likely to be an insult to his ancestors back to the tenth generation) to Logan.

A small gift bag hung from a branch of the tree.

Logan was working on his computer behind the main desk.

Isabel was still a little to hyper to sleep. Which is why she was down in the lobby staring at the tree. "Cal, there's a present here for you."

Callisto shrugged. "So?"

"So! It means someone thought about you and went through the time and effort to find the perfect gift for you!" Isabel said, mildly horrified. "You owe it to them to open it!"

"The perfect gift for me would not fit in that bag," Callisto said. Well, not unless what was in that bag were keys to handcuffs attached to a naked souled vampire tied with with ribbons. But that was unlikely to say the least.

She took the bag from the tree and brought it over to Cal. "You don't know that. This could be something small, shiny and deadly," she suggested, trying to think of something, besides naked vampire, that would appeal to Cal.

Callisto sighed and held out her hand to take the bag. "And the likelihood of that is?"

Isabel handed it over. "I don't know. But it's probably not outside the realm of possibility if someone put some thought into it."

Callisto shook the contents of the bag into her hand. "Guess they didn't," she said, holding the pendant up. "Unless I'm supposed to garrote someone with the chain."

"Well that would cover the shiny and deadly part of it," Isabel said, proud that she didn't facepalm. "It's very pretty."

"You can have it then," Callisto offered.

"No, that's yours. Besides, you can't regift when there's a chance that the gifter would see," she explained. "And if I wore that around here or in Fandom, I'm pretty sure they would."

From behind the desk, Logan said, "You should take it, Izzy. Anything Cal touches will be destroyed by the acidic bitterness she oozes."

Isabel glared. "As opposed to the snarky arrogance that comes from some one else in the room?"

Logan shrugged. "Hey, I'm not still bitching about a break-up that happened seven months ago."

Callisto's fist clenched around the pendant. "No matter what he might have told you, it doesn't count as a break up if the other person doesn't even know about it," she snarled, before blinking rapidly at a sudden wave of dizziness.

And this was where a quick exit was called for. "Gee, you know, time change and all? I'm getting tired. Night everyone!" Isabel fled before she could get caught in the crossfire.

"It's not his fault you're about as bright as a candle underwater," Logan said, ignoring Izzy.

"But it is his fault he's a faithless, deceitful, selfish..." Callisto broke off with a yelp and clutched at her temples.

"It totally would be his fault, except for the part that it's all in your head," Logan said.

Callisto would have had a very intelligent and crushing response to that if not for the fact that a million white hot needles of pain were currently jabbing into her skull.

Logan finally noticed that she appeared to be in some discomfort. "Want some Midol?" he asked. "Or something stronger? Vicodin? Lots of it?"

Logan would probably never know just how lucky he was that Callisto couldn't aim properly right then. Instead she just whimpered.

She didn't appear to be in imminent danger of death, so Logan didn't see any reason to fetch help.
