Logan returned from Wonka's Candy Shop just as the Christmas tree was delivered. Logan directed them to set it up in the living room.

He flopped down on the couch and turned on the TV to watch Scrooged while waiting for the decorations to be delivered.

[Open to house residents and friends. The professional decorators aren't going to show, so we'll have to improvise. And there's candy!]

Krycek listened to the chant, trying to pick out anything that sounded familiar. The idea of doing magic through technology was fascinating, though most of it still went over his head, really.

The candle is burning fast--faster than a candle should. Wax drips down, pooling in the saucer Jenny put underneath the candlestick. The energy has entered the delicate tracery of the wiring of the house, and Jenny can feel as the spell wraps around the boundaries until it solidifies, creating an invisible, solid barrier to Angelus.

The chanting reaches a crescendo as Jenny stops typing, then enters one last command. The monitor flares white, then the program ends and a command prompt comes up with a blinking cursor.

She retypes the command to start the program, and then lights a second candle. "We'll do a second run-through now for Darla."

When she finishes the second disinvitation, she sits quietly for a moment, her hands on the keyboard, slowly letting the energy she raised dissipate.

Parker looks around, not seeing anything different, but impressed by the candle thing, definitely. And relieved it didn't get real weird.

"Are you okay?" she asks, wanting to be sure Jenny's not going to pass out like Tara. "No collapsing?"

"Collapsing?" Jenny shakes her head. "No, I'm fine. I just had to ground out the energy once the spell was done. If you've set up properly--cast a circle, grounded, and centered--then you're not going to pass out."

"So, it's sort of like physics, where there's the reaction for every action?" Elizabeth asks, tilting her head and looking at Jenny curiously. "And you've got to ground yourself, like you have to do with electrity in a circuit?

And with the Latin? Is that..."

She stops and pauses, grinning sheepishly. "Hi. Elizabeth Weir. I think too much."

"Nice to meet you, Elizabeth," said Jenny. "And think too much? Nah. Good questions, actually."

"Thanks," Elizabeth smiled. "I've never had any experience with magic before, so I'm rather curious about it all."

"You know, if you're interested in the theory, I could go into it some time," said Jenny. "I'm not up for Technopaganism 101, theory? That's doable."

Elizabeth nodded. "If you don't mind. I'm just curious about the whole thing, that's all."

"Stop by my office some time," said Jenny. "I've got hours tomorrow."

"You're welcome," said Jenny, shaking Logan's hand. "Someone who lives here--only someone who lives here. So pizza delivery after dark? Leave 'em waiting on the door step. Oh, and don't get a welcome mat. No signs that read 'come on in.' Nothing like that. If they're put up someone living there? They count as an invitation to any vampire around."

"Hunh." Parker shrugs. "When Professor Maclay did that spell-- well, she said it was too strong for her maybe. Her girlfriend acted as anchor, and it took a lot out of Tara. She was pretty wiped afterwards." She cocked her head. "Mr. Phale helped out after that."

"Mr. Phale?" asks Jenny. "Bookstore guy? Kind of tweedy? Didn't know he was a magical type. The curse is pretty hard core. I mean, hey, curse? Kind of has to be done with malice aforethought."

And no one does revenge like my people.
