(Outside) Room 228, Friday Afternoon

It's your everyday sort of dorm room door, only lacking in one tiny detail - a keyhole. The mechanism inside seems unaffected by whatever removed the keyhole, because the door is quite firmly locked.

Grabbing his toolbox, Bridge heads across the hall to Logan's room.

"Okay, so what's the problem?"

"The keyhole's gone," Logan said, pointing to the doorknob.

Molly put her hand on the doorknob. "I should probably wait for Bridge to try with his tools first, huh?"

"That's one way to go," Logan smiled at Molly.

"I can take the doorknob off. But then you won't have *any* lock at all. Which would be just as bad."

"Well, then I could get my clothes," Logan said, gesturing at the shirt he was wearing. It was a nice black button-down shirt, though a little baggy on him. You may have previously seen it on a certain vampire. "But yeah, I need something. If I picked up a new lock in town, could you install it?"

Cameron tilted his head and looked at the lock when Logan said the keyhole was gone. "Huh, wonder who he pissed off for that one."

"Who can do that, though? Just...disappear a lock?" Rory wondered.

"Cyclops," Cameron said, remembering the guy Molly had described from her world. "He's this mutant with laser vision or something. I bet he could just melt the hole away."

"Okay, (A) we don't have him here, and (B) it's not burny." Rory pointed at the keyhole, where there were no scorchmarks

"Okay, some of the magic people around the school? I'm sure he's pissed enough people off," Cameron leaned against the wall and wondered why Logan's shirt looked familiar.

Parker walked up, and cocked her head. "Why are we watching this, exactly?"

Toolbox in hand, Bridge leads the expedition up to the fifth floor in search of a room without an occupant. "Any suggestions, Hat-Girl?"

"Uh, any door but those," Molly said and pointed to the few occupied rooms on the floor. "We could probably take one from the far end of the hallway."

Bridge points to the door to Room 528. "How about that one? The numbers almost match and all."

"Are we sure we want to bring a 5th floor door to the cool 2nd floor?" Cameron asked.

"If we took a door off an empty room in the second floor, people would probably notice. Not as many people are up here."

"Yeah, 211 is empty," Rory said. "But that's situated right between me and Aeryn. I think that given the foot traffic there, it'd probably be kind of noticable. So this is a good plan."

Rory watched Parker's reaction to her question.

"What?"

She kind of dreaded the answer.

"He's not getting better," Parker said as gently as she could. "He's gotten worse." She took a breath. "Not that they're giving up! And Fraiser's smart, she has a plan, there's going to be a treatment that... might work."

Rory swallowed.

"What are the odds that he's going to be okay? Good? Or no?" She took a deep breath, and calmly asked, "Do I need to pull myself together for a goodbye?"

"I don't know. He's very weak, and in a lot of pain." Parker looked away, clearly unhappy. "I think, maybe-- if he has a note for you, you should ask him for it now."

"A note? I grabbed one for Professor Tick yesterday that looked like it was in Angel's writing," Rory said quietly. "Okay. Good to know."

She resumed watching Bridge and Molly, completely expressionless.

"This isn't the end." Parker wasn't sure she believed that any more, after this morning's conversation. "I just think--" She bit her lip. "It's just a precaution. So it won't happen. Right?"
